As part of B Ed curriculum, skill of introducing a lesson and skill of black board was the skills assigned to me to teach as part of micro teaching. It offered me an excellent chance for me to enhance these skills. It also allows me to receive constructive feedback and make adjustments before applying these skills in a real classroom setting.
Microteaching is a teacher training technique for learning teaching skills. It employs real teaching situation for developing skills and helps to get deeper knowledge regarding the art of teaching. Microteaching has the ability to enhance the skills of problem solving, critical thinking, questioning, and reflective thinking. It improves learning by realistic applications.It helps in developing the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of the teachers. Through this teachers get immediate feedback on their performances which can be worked upon for further improvements.
In skill of introducing a lesson, I have got the lesson 'Maternity' by Lilika Nakos.Introducing a lesson in microteaching is crucial as it sets the tone, engages learners, and clarifies objectives. It's like a roadmap, guiding both the teacher and students on what to expect and why it matters. Effective introductions capture attention, create interest, and establish a positive learning atmosphere, laying the foundation for successful teaching and learning experiences.
In skill of using blackboard, I got the grammar portion 'Present Continuous Tense' to teach.Using the blackboard effectively in microteaching involves clarity, organization, and engagement. Effective use of the blackboard encourages interaction, keeps learners focused, and reinforces key points. It's a tool for both teacher guidance and student participation, promoting active learning and comprehension. Practice and feedback in microteaching help refine this skill for future classroom success. The blackboard serves as a platform for providing immediate feedback, correcting misconceptions, and assessing student understanding through observation of their responses and interactions with the material. Overall, mastering the skill of using the blackboard in microteaching fosters effective communication, comprehension, and engagement in the classroom, laying the groundwork for successful teaching practices in the future.
In conclusion, my microteaching experience was a valuable learning experience that highlighted both strengths and areas for growth in my teaching practice. The structured approach and use of visual aids enhanced the overall understanding of the topic. However, I recognize the need to improve my pacing and incorporate more interactive elements to foster greater participation and engagement. This experience has provided me with important insights and actionable feedback that I will use to refine my teaching strategies. I am committed to continuous improvement and look forward to applying these lessons in future teaching opportunities in real classroom setting.
