Criticism class reflection
As part of B Ed curriculum,Fourteen students from the English department of BNVCTE participated in criticism class on two days (26-06-24Wednesday and 21-06-24, Thursday). The lessons assigned to us were from both 8th std and 9th std. In addition to this, models of teaching were also included. Common mistakes while taking class were lack of clarity. Students seemed confused during the class. Insufficient interaction with the class was another mistake to be taken care of.Criticism class helps to evaluate teaching methods, learning materials , theories etc which helps students to develop the ability to critique and reflect on various aspects including instructional strategies, methods teaching - learning resources etc. Through such classes, students learn to evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches, identify strengths and weakness and apply critical thinking to improve their own teaching practices. Criticism class enables us to know about our capacity, capability, approaches while teaching. Through criticism class we all got an idea about what should be avoided while taking class. There are lot of lot of aspect that should be improved. The topic assigned to me was prefix and suffix which was taught in concept attainment model. This model of teaching is a pattern of teaching that consists of the teacher’s explanation of a concept or skill to large group of students and providing them controlled , guided and independent practice.Reflecting on my teaching using the Concept attainment model, I found that the clear structure and step-by-step delivery were highly effective in ensuring students understood the material. My lesson plans were well-organized, and I provided precise instructions that met the learning objectives. However, there were moments when my approach was too rigid, and some students struggled to stay engaged. I realized that while the structured approach was beneficial, incorporating more interactive elements and adapting my teaching to address individual needs could enhance student participation and comprehension. Additionally, although I regularly assessed understanding and provided feedback, there is room to improve the specificity and timeliness of my feedback to better support student learning. Overall, while concept attainment model provided a solid framework, balancing structure with flexibility and increasing student interaction are areas for further development.
