Field trip to Kerala Arts and Craft Village
Field trip to Kerala Arts and Crafts village
As part of B Ed curriculum, we students of BNV College of Teacher Education, Thiruvalla went on a field trip to Kerala Arts and Craft village, Vellar. The field trip to Kerala Arts and Craft Village, Vellar, was a profoundly educational experience for us as B.Ed. students. It provided a firsthand exploration of Kerala's rich artistic traditions and cultural heritage, allowing us to witness skilled artisans practicing their craft with dedication and precision. Observing techniques such as wood carving, mural painting, and pottery not only deepened our understanding of these art forms but also highlighted their importance in cultural identity and community development. Engaging with artisans and learning about their challenges underscored the need for supporting local craftsmanship and integrating cultural literacy into educational practices. This experience has equipped us with invaluable insights and a renewed commitment to incorporating arts education that honors and preserves our cultural heritage in our future roles as educators. One of the most striking aspects of the trip was witnessing artisans at work, practicing age-old techniques passed down through generations. Observing their craftsmanship firsthand not only deepened our appreciation for their skills.
